Meet Leah Simmons.
I’m Leah Simmons, and I know first-hand how important it is to have trusted counsel on your side when navigating the world of family law. My goal? To provide each client with the support I wish I had during my own legal journey, in service of the fresh start they deserve.
Before entering the legal field, I worked as a nanny for 13 years and interned at the Frederick County Self Help Center in 2020 — so it’s safe to say that for me, helping others has always been a priority. After deciding to channel my passion for people into law, I functioned as a Paralegal at a collections firm for two years before becoming a Civil and Acting Appeals Clerk at the Montgomery County Circuit Court. My educational qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus and a Paralegal Certificate.
Ultimately, I was drawn to ZFL, where, as a Paralegal, I can apply my skills while guiding every client through their case until they find the silver lining on the other side. Working alongside this welcoming, collaborative team, I empower our attorneys by assisting with everything from case planning to legal research, and client interviews.
Outside the office, I love spending time with my daughter and going on adventures — we explore a new state park every year! Some of my other go-to activities? Visiting DC’s iconic museums, embarking on hikes, and hanging out with family and friends.
