ParalegalJoanna LaBoue
“I have always been passionate about advocacy."
Meet Joanna LaBoue.
I joined Z Family Law in search of a fresh start after years of studying for the Bar Exam and finding myself caught in the cycle of preparing, waiting for results, and starting again. While I haven’t passed the exam yet, I’ve made improvements with each attempt and remain determined to continue trying. It was during a casual Google search that I stumbled upon Z Family Law, and something about the team biographies and mission just clicked for me. I knew immediately this was where I was meant to be.
I earned my J.D. from the University of Baltimore in 2022, following my B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Hood College. Prior to law, I spent seven years teaching English Language Arts to middle and high school students, and I even designed a Humanities curriculum for Carroll County public schools. My time in law school was equally rewarding, especially my experience as a student-attorney in the Veterans Advocacy Clinic, where I represented veterans in Veteran Treatment Court.
One of the things that drew me to Z Family Law is the firm’s dedication to not only supporting families through tough transitions but also to helping each other grow. I have always been passionate about advocacy, from my work as a Special Education Advocate, ensuring children receive the accommodations they need in school, to my volunteer work fostering pups for Operation Paws for Homes since 2020.
Outside of work, I enjoy rock climbing, running, reading, and spending time with my German Shepherd-Husky, Samwise the Brave. While my own journey has had its challenges, I’m grateful to be at Z Family Law, where I can continue to grow and help clients move forward in their own lives.
