If you know anything about Z Family Law, you know we love dogs. From our firm dogs (and cats) to our obsession with our clients’ pets, to our “furry family” pupdates in our monthly newsletter, you could say we’re a little dog crazy. The other thing to know about Z Family Law is that we love our community and it’s incredibly important to us to give back with community involvement and charity initiatives. That’s why we started our Dogs Days of Summer initiative to raise funds for the Montgomery County Humane Society (“MCHS”) just across the street from our office in Rockville, MD from July 29 – August 19, 2021.

We partnered with the Big Bad Woof to raise funds for our furry friends in need at MCHS. With any purchase using ZFL’s code, customers received a discount and free shipping, the Big Bad Woof donated 15% of their proceeds to MCHS and we matched their donations up to $2,500 – a great deal for everyone! We also raffled off a $50 gift card to the Big Bad Woof for individuals who donated directly to MCHS.

We didn’t stop there – throughout our event, we also featured specific adoptable dogs looking for their forever homes at MCHS, and our founding attorney, Christy A. Zlatkus, and our Director of Operations, Megan Parlette, headed to MCHS to meet some of the pups who would benefit from the donations. Playful Ellie the boxer mix, bouncy Roxy the coonhound, Daphne, the lovely little mixed breed puppy, and Sugar the zoomie lab mix were a real highlight of our fundraiser!

On August 8th, we donned our Dog Days of Summer shirts, leashed up a few of our firm dogs, and headed to the Takoma Park farmer’s market to meet community members and spread the word about MCHS and our fundraiser!

We had plenty of puppy visitors and a few of our Team ZFL mini-members joined in the fun as well!

All told, we raised $6,400 to help provide vaccinations, medical tests, spay/neuter procedures, and other medical care to the pups in need!

To finish on an extra high note, we celebrated our fundraiser’s success with some fun dog-themed cupcakes and an in-office party to recognize the contributions of every team member.

If you’re looking for your next pet, consider a rescue pup from Montgomery County Humane Society or one of the many other wonderful shelters and rescue organizations in our area. To get all your pet essentials whether you’re welcoming a new dog or already have one (or more), be sure to stop by Big Bad Woof in Takoma Park!
