Greetings! I’m Courtnie Gore.
I am excited to help you start your new chapter. I am a native of Richmond, Virginia, a graduate of the College of William & Mary, and a graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law. I have dedicated my legal career to the representation of families and children.
From 2016 to 2018, I served as an Equal Justice AmeriCorps Legal Fellow at the Advocates for Human Rights in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As an attorney, I worked with unaccompanied children, asylee applicants, refugees, and other immigrants in matters of family law and immigration law. My clients were diverse in age, experience, income-level, religion, and cultural backgrounds, but they all shared the desperate need to be heard by our justice system. As a result of this experience, I always ensure that my clients’ wishes are at the center of all my work both in the office and the courtroom.
From 2018 to 2021, I served as a Staff Attorney at the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition in the Detained Children’s Program. In this role, I represented children during the family separation crisis and litigated on behalf of youth during challenging times for immigration policy. Working with children in detention centers throughout Virginia and Maryland ignited a fire for zealous advocacy for families. I am so happy that my work brought me to Z Family Law.
When I am not practicing as a Maryland family lawyer or at the Z Family Law office, I am teaching future law professionals as an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia. I am also a member of the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland.
My secret shame? I am a hardcore reality television fan! I love all things Real Housewives of …, Indian Matchmaking, or 90 Day Fiancé. I will skip a workout class to binge shows about elaborate marriages that end in even more complex divorces. I also love reality shows that showcase entrepreneurs because I am passionate about assisting small business owners. In my spare time, I develop blogs and YouTube videos to provide small business owners with tools to develop their business.
